Presenting a glimpse into the future of “The Autonomous Life,” Kia recently unveiled four new hand-built customized vehicles on the opening day of the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. Each concept represents a take on the notion that future vehicles will not only drive autonomous but also be tailor-built to our lifestyles.

The Niro Traithalon has had part of the roof removed, opening a small bed and allowing for a custom bike rack, tool box and tablet computer mount. The road-racing bike can be easily removed or locked into place for transport or repairs. A laser bike lane light mounted on the rear illuminates a laser LED road behind the vehicle, so the athlete can monitor data via the tablet while the Niro autonomously sets the pace. There’s an ultra-comfortable gravity ergonomic reclining chair to relax in as the Niro drives you to your destination. Cabinets hold supplies and parts, while the portable shower allows for post-race clean-up.

The School of Rock Sedona is a rolling recording studio. Kia partnered with School of Rock, the leader in performance-based music education to envision this new take on a gig van. Featuring sound-studio-quality acoustic foam panels, a digital mixing board, dual flat-screen monitors, a boom mike and custom bean bags for chilling out, the Sedona will get young musicians to their next show safely and in style. And if they get inspired, the lift gate opens to reveal a stack of amps at the ready for an impromptu show.

The Sorento Ski Gondola takes the idea of a sport-utility vehicle to new heights. Dominator Rubber Tracks will easily tackle snow and ice as it climbs the mountain for your next run. The metal roof rack offers ample storage for ski, boards and poles, while the cargo space provides abundant storage for boots, bags and backpacks. The floor throughout the interior was given a durable waterproof treatment to protect against ice and snow that may find a way inside.

The Soul First Class optimizes work and rest for the hectic business traveler. By eliminating the need for a driver (and, therefore, a steering wheel), the Soul First Class has a revamped front dash that houses two rear-facing front seats. As they relax in the white-and-gray leather cabin, passengers can enjoy the 40-inch Samsung LED TV that’s connected to a Mac mini computer system and premium speakers. The motorized center console opens to reveal the two tablets that control the vehicle.
