We've been hearing the swirling eddies of the rumor pool for a few weeks now--and Kia may be coming out with some exciting news very soon.

Back in April, AutoGuide reported on news that Kia Motors had filed a trademark for the term "Kia Stinger", and began speculating what it could mean for the future of the brand.

"The name was first used on the GT4 Stinger Concept which was presented at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine sending 315 horsepower to the rear wheels. A second concept called the Kia Novo previewed what a small sports sedan would like from Kia, and the most recent rumors suggest the production model will have four doors."

Whether this means that Kia has definitely plans to release a new car or concept soon, or that they're just protecting the "Stinger" nameplate for the future, we can still embrace the excitement out here in Sebring.

If it goes into production, the Kia GT Stinger--or just GT or Stinger--could be a four-door sports sedan or a performance coupe. Either way, we're looking forward to more news.

And if you're not excited about a new model yet, this throwback to the 2014 concept model that we saw at the Detroit Auto Show.
